Model Packs increase the number of Amp or FX Models of a GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt, PODxt Live or PODxt Pro, for a wider variety of tone possibilities. When a particular tone in the library relies on a Model available in one of these packs, you'll see symbol(s) to indicate which Packs: MS (Metal Shop), CC (Classics Collection), FX (FX Junkie), and PP (Power Pack).

The models within the FX Junkie Model Pack are already included in PODxt Live, and offered for purchase to add-on to GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt and PODxt Pro.

Variax is the uniquely flexibile guitar from Line 6. Our Vetta II amplifier includes a digital connection for the Variax that lets you store settings for both your amp and your guitar in the Vetta II so that when you call up a Vetta Channel Memory your amp and guitar can change sounds together. Vetta II Tones marked with this guitar symbol include this Variax data.

For each tone in the library, you'll see an icon for either a single coil or humbucker pickup. This tells you whether the tone is best for use with a single coil pickup or a humbucker, so you can select the appropriate pickup on your guitar when using this tone.

Attention POD 2.0, Flextone and HD147 owners... Your hardware doesn't do Stomp effects, so you'll hear something different than what was intended. Try increasing the Drive or choose a higher gain Amp Model to get the right sound. The other aspects of the sound should translate as expected, so you'll at least get a great starting place for tweaking.

This preset is a showcase of how I use Helix for advanced control of multiple instruments, integrating it with Ableton and my other gear. Let’s start with paths and instruments. Path 2B (aux in) is for my Bass and it is sent to USB out 6 (or out 5/6 panned all the way to the right). Path 2A (USB in 3/4) combines 2 instruments: drum rack from Ableton (which is set to Helix USB out 3/4) and Acoustic Guitar (which is plugged into Return 3). I use Expression pedal 1 in order to control Hi Cut curve on my EQ in this path. Path 1A (guitar in) also combines 2 instruments - electric guitar and guitar synth pedal, which is plugged into Return 1 and is blended with electric guitar almost at the end of the chain. I also use Plateaux Reverb on path 1B in order to create a gated pad effect. The trick here is to use A/B split, leave it on default settings, then navigate to Merge Mix and assign B level to any footswitch as a Momentary command. After that define the minimal and maximum value. I set it to final -60 and maximum -6. This way every time while you press and hold the footswitch, it will turn on the volume for the effects you got on your path 1B. In my case it’s plateaux reverb with 100% wet mix. Now strum a chord, press rhythmically on your footswitch and you’ll have a gated reverb effect. Some other features I use in this preset and in many more - toe switch for switching to the next snapshot. It’s very convenient, because this way I can just put my foot down on expression pedal and press it without having to look down.
