Reeves Gabrels

The Cure

BIOGRAPHY

Reeves Gabrels is an American guitarist/songwriter/producer. He is best known (since 2012) as a member of The Cure, an English band with an international audience, as well as for his close collaboration with David Bowie from 1987 to 2000.

Gabrels has further performed, recorded and collaborated with a wide range of musicians worldwide including Nine Inch Nails, Paul Rodgers, Ozzy Osbourne, Brian Eno, Public Enemy, The Rolling Stones, The Mission (UK), and Natalie Imbruglia, and has six solo albums to his individual credit. He most recently participated as a primary instrumentalist in the radical 2018 re-working of David Bowie’s “Never Let Me Down” album.

He has lived and worked in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, London and Nashville.

His aggressive guitar style combines the visceral energy of rock, the harmonic sophistication of jazz, the emotional honesty of blues and country. Gabrels explores sonic extremes with a great adaptive intuition and his limitless technical and compositional skills shine without restraint.

Helix and HX series are the sonic equivalent of the box of crayons you always wanted as a kid. inside or outside of the lines it has every colour you ever wanted (and some you never dreamed of).
