FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How many different kinds of effects does M9 Stompbox Modeler have?
More than you will ever be able to use in one gig! M9 Stompbox Modeler provides more than 100 of the best of the best modern and vintage stompbox effects.

To highlight a few, you get essential distortions – from classic fuzz to modern metal meltdowns – expressive delays, spacey flangers and rotary drums, tangy choruses, ring modulators, studio-grade reverbs, pitch effects like Smart Harmony and Pitch Glide, filters galore, voice box, and so much more.

And if that's not enough, we threw in a 28-second sound-on-sound looper with dedicated footswitches!

Does M9 Stompbox Modeler include guitar amp or cab modeling?
Nope. Just stompboxes and studio effects.

Does each model really have dedicated controls?
Absolutely. Everything is W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. (what you see is what you get), just like turning a knob on your favorite stompbox.

Can I use my other pedals with M9 Stompbox Modeler?
Of course. Use M9 Stompbox Modeler anywhere in-line with your other pedals. And take advantage of its True Analog Bypass and DSP Bypass.

What's True Bypass and why should I care?
True Bypass means that when all the effects are off, your signal bypasses all the internal electronics and goes from the inputs directly to the outputs via a relay bypass circuit.

Is M9 Stompbox Modeler big and heavy?
Nope. M9 Stompbox Modeler will fit on your pedal board and in your gig bag. Are you familiar with the DL4™, our green four-button delay pedal? M9 Stompbox Modeler is about the same size and weight.

Will the looper still work while I'm changing sounds and scenes?
Absolutely. Once you have recorded your looped creation, leave it repeating and go back to using any of the effects.

Where's the tuner?
Simultaneously press the "B" buttons of FX Units 2 and 3. The tuner will appear in the display and your signal will mute.

When the tuner is activated, does it mute the stompbox sounds?
Yes. By default, once the tuner is activated the all signals are muted. (But you can choose to have your dry signal pass through.)

Can I record direct with my M9 Stompbox Modeler?
Probably not, but there are no rules so give it a shot – you might stumble upon a cool sound!

Can I use M9 Stompbox Modeler with instruments other than guitar?
Definitely. It sounds amazing with bass and keyboards, too. (Keyboard players will appreciate the stereo inputs and outputs.)

What is a "scene"?
A scene is an arrangement of effects, like on a pedal board. You can create and save up to 24 different scenes. Create one for your metal band, one for your punk band, one for your Top 40 gig...you get the picture. No more tearing up Velcro® just to switch out or two pedals!

Can I backup my scenes?
Yes! Use the MIDI in/out to backup your scenes to your computer.

What do the colored footswitch lights signify?
Each color references a specific effect type: green is for Delays, blue is for Modulations, purple is for Filters, yellow is for Distortions, orange is for Reverbs.

Can I use expressional pedals with my M9 Stompbox Modeler?
Sure! Expression pedals, like our Ex-1™ Expression Pedal, allow you to adjust your stompbox settings using your feet. You can control the Pitch Glide, use the wah and volume effect, modify the length of your delay time, dial up the reverb mix, change the depth of your tremolo and more.

Does M9 Stompbox Modeler include models from the DL4?
Yes, it includes all of the delay models from DL4, DM4™, FM4™, MM4™ and Verbzilla®, and a killer delay from Echo Pro™ called Echo Platter. It also includes some very cool new models. View the full model list here.

How does the looper compare with that of the DL4?
Much like the DL4, it's a straight-forward sound-on-sound looper (where you can build a song with one-at-time overdubs). But we have made a few upgrades: you can loop up to 28 seconds, you get one layer of undo/redo, there are dedicated footswitches for each function, and you can use all of your effects while using the looper.

How does M9 Stompbox Modeler compare to POD® X3 Live?
They are totally different animals. M9 Stompbox Modeler is built for players who want a massive collection of premium stompbox sounds to use in front of their amp. POD X3 Live has amp models and direct-recording capability.

How is M9 Stompbox Modeler different from other multi-effects products?
M9 Stompbox Modeler is constructed like a small pedal board. Easy to use, a knob for every control and no deep menus to program or edit - what you see is what you get.
